Self-tying Intermediate

  • Iridescent Studio 1 Doctor Jan van Breemenstraat Amsterdam, NH, 1056 AB Netherlands (map)

Building on the foundations from the beginner self-tying workshop, this next session invites you to deepen your rope practice and expand your skills.

Together, we’ll explore more advanced techniques, including tying on blocks to create both upper and lower body harnesses.

We’ll spend time refining your rope handling, working with new frictions, and developing a stronger sense of tension and control.

This workshop is the right oportunity to challenge yourself, learn new techniques, and take your practice further,

Are you ready?

Workshop’s content:

  • Safety will remain at the heart of our practice.

  • Experiment with new patterns and structures, for lower and upper body

  • We will also continue to focus on breath and self-awareness using the rhythm of tying to anchor yourself in the moment and enjoy the unique connection that self-tying offers.

For who is this workshop?

  • You have to know a solid single column tie, and be familiar with basic frictions (you should be up to speed if you have followed our Self-tying  for Beginners workshop!).

  • This is a solo tying workshop, but feel free to come with a friend if you wish. All the content is designed to practice on your own body.

What to bring?

  • You will need 4 full length ropes (8 meters each) and 2 half length.

  • We will be tying on the floor, and we have yoga matts and pillows but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

  • If you like to take notes: a notebook and pen.

  • Comfortable clothes in which you can move freely, tank tops or shorts are ideal, or any yoga/sport clothes.

  • A bottle of water (leak proof) and some snacks (we will have tea for everyone)

  • A pair of sandals/flip flops to get to the toilet, since they are not directly inside the studio.

Need Ropes?

If you need ropes you can find Shibari Ropes at Mail & Female, this link gives you a 10% discount on your first purchase.
We advise to get both ropes and rope butter and treat them before the workshop for them to be softer and easy to use.
