We’re excited to be your gateway into the world of Shibari/Kinbaku.
This biweekly gathering is designed for curious individuals eager to explore the practice or maybe it’s the perfect excuse to pick up your rope practice again!
We will focus in different topics each class in order to improve your knowledge. You can expect technique topics, safety, rope handling, etc.
The evening starts with a 2hrs Bondage class, where you will be tying on yourself. There will be exercises in the ones we will encourage you to pair with other participants, which makes it a great opportunity to connect with new people, to come with a friend.
During the last hour, we will have a mini Rope Salon, which it is play time.
During this time, you can indulge into self-tying or find a parter and practice.
Evening program:
Opening introduction.
Single column tie and Frictions.
Wrap it up! How and where to place ropes.
We will talk about safety and body mechanics during all the exercises.

For whom is this workshop?
This is a perfect for everyone that want to learn Shibari/Kinbaku techniques, either from the Rigger or Rope model perspective.
Complete Beginners or beginner level knowledge.
Every class is different, so you can join at any time, even if it’s your first.
Folks that want to connect with people and practice.
What to bring?
We have ropes for you to use during the event, we use 8 meters length jute ropes.
If you want to buy ropes, we recommend buying some at Mail & Female Sexshop. If you use the code "Iridescent" in their webshop or in the store, you get a 10% discount.
We will be tying on the floor, and we have yoga matts and pillows but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
If you like to take notes: a notebook and pen.
Comfortable clothes in which you can move freely, tank tops or shorts are ideal, or any yoga/sport clothes.
A bottle of water (leak proof) and some snacks.
A pair of sandals/flip flops to get to the toilet, since they are not directly inside the studio.
Important
Iridescent Studio is a BIPOC and Queer-led organisation and in our events we do not tolerate racism, discrimination, sexism, homophobia or transphobia.
During the entire event we do not allow the use of any mobile or electronic devices to record the content of the event.
If the group agree, you may be allowed to take pictures of your partner as long as none of the participants or teachers are in your pictures.

Times
Doors open half an hour before the event starts
We will close the door of the studio at 10 minutes before the event starts, so please make sure you are there, at least 15 minutes before. After the door is closed, no entry will be granted.
Location
The studio is located in Amsterdam west, Doctor Jan van Breemenstraat 1.
You can get here by bike, or from Central Station by Tram 13, the stop is Adm. Helfrichstraat.
If you decide to drive to us, here is a link for a parking space just besides the studio.
In our experience the Mobypark platform gives better rates and has several options in the neighbourhood.

All our workshops and events are taught/guided in English.
