Ropes are a great way to connect with each other.
Just two bodies and some rope create a space for intimacy.
But there are also many ways to connect rope bondage to other intimate practices!
In this workshop we focus on using ropes to play with other tools and practices: we focus on manipulating the body so that we can incorporate other sensations, like impact play, playing with power dynamics, and using ropes to build up to sex.
Playful Ropes is a workshop to bring your rope bondage practice to a more connective, playful, or sexual level. Starting from basic ties, we will explore different shapes to play with our partner’s body.
Workshop’s content:
Safety and consent: basic risk assessments and discussing how to play safely and navigate consent when you start incorporating other practices into your bondage practice (both verbally and physically)
Knots and frictions: technical information on knots and frictions that we will be using in the rest of the workshop
Shapes: we will explore the ways we can use rope to create different shapes with our partner’s body, in order to play with elements like exposure, shame, pain, objectification, and sexual interaction.
We will go through several demo’s of ties that you will have time to practice, and we will end with some time to play with your partner, combining different elements from the workshop.
Although this workshop is directed at some sexual practices, this is not a sexual (play) space. There is no nudity or sexual engagement in the workshop space, but we will explore safe ways that you may combine later in your personal practice.
For whom is this workshop?
You have to know a solid single column tie, and be familiar with basic frictions (you should be up to speed if you have followed our Ropes for Beginners workshop!).
This workshop is also suitable if you’ve been tying for longer, but wish to gain more fluidity and intention to your rope sessions, and start combining other elements.
This workshop is only for couples, a rigger and a model, for a smooth workshop experience these roles do not change during the workshop. It is not possible to take part as a solo participant.
What to bring?
You will need 4 full length ropes (8 meters each) and 2 half length.
We will be tying on the floor, and we have yoga matts and pillows but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
If you like to take notes: a notebook and pen.
Comfortable clothes in which you can move freely, tank tops or shorts are ideal, or any yoga/sport clothes.
