Moods in Ropes is not a typical workshop. It’s more like a shared space between discussion, guided exploration, and laboratory. The structure is intentionally open, because what we work on depends a lot on the input of the participants.
We might work with shame, or playfulness, or grief, or objectification, and each of these brings completely different questions. What does that emotion require? What kind of structure supports it? What kind of partner dynamic changes it? It’s not the same to approach fear than to approach tenderness, and it’s not the same to do it with someone you know deeply or with someone new. These nuances are at the center of the workshop.
This is not a technical space where I explain how to tie or how to execute specific actions. Instead, I focus on how to think and design a session. How to prepare it, how to choose the right elements, how to create a container that actually allows the desired emotion to emerge. It’s about intention, composition, and awareness.
Because of this, the workshop is more suited for people who already have some experience and especially for partners who know each other and want to deepen the way they play together. It asks for honesty, reflection, and a willingness to engage not only physically, but also emotionally and conceptually.
Marcos Mangani (he-him)
Marcos studied visual arts in Argentina for 5 years. Travelling and developing his artwork with a strong focus in installations that talked about time and space, Marcos created throughout the years some solid career.
10 years ago, he moved to Berlin and continued developing his artworks, but also opened new doors to new media and ways to relate with people.
As an invisible conceptual thread, he has been talking about impermanence with different mediums and materials.
7 years ago, he found rope bondage as a new technique to continue evolving his practice. He developed his own conscious and quiet approach and characteristic face bondage. Creating safe spaces for people to trust and surrender, he opens the doors for people to explore their bodies in a different way. Exploring emotions and intentions in rope is one of his most interests.
He taught in different queer spaces Tension (Montreal) Temple (New York) and Iridescent Studio (Amsterdam) Anatomie (London)At the moment Marcos offers regular classes and private sessions at his studio KOR Berlin.
Heels Over Head is centered around inversions and everything that comes with being upside down. This is both a physical and a perceptual shift. Being inverted is not just a position, it’s a completely different experience of the body, of balance, of orientation, and of sensation.
