Heels Over Head

  • Iridescent Studio 1B Doctor Jan van Breemenstraat Amsterdam, NH, 1056 AB Netherlands (map)

Heels Over Head is centered around inversions and everything that comes with being upside down.

This is both a physical and a perceptual shift. Being inverted is not just a position, it’s a completely different experience of the body, of balance, of orientation, and of sensation.

We explore different ways of entering and exiting inversions, because how you arrive upside down changes everything. Going from standing into an inversion is a different journey than lifting from the floor, and each pathway brings its own rhythm, its own demands, and its own sensations. Understanding these transitions is a big part of the work.

This workshop has a more technical layer. I introduce specific ways to support the body, some harness ideas, and practical approaches to make inversions safer, clearer, and more intentional. At the same time, the goal is not only technical precision, but awareness. What happens in the body when the head is lower than the hips? How does weight shift? How does breathing change? How does trust play into it?

It’s still a very hands-on and engaging space, but it does require some prior experience, especially with suspension. Participants should feel comfortable enough with the basics to focus on refining and expanding rather than starting from zero.

Even with its technical side, the workshop keeps a sense of play and exploration. It’s about finding confidence in unfamiliar positions, and about understanding inversion not as a trick, but as a state that can be navigated with clarity and intention.

Marcos

Marcos Mangani (he-him)

Marcos studied visual arts in Argentina for 5 years. Travelling and developing his artwork with a strong focus in installations that talked about time and space, Marcos created throughout the years some solid career.

10 years ago, he moved to Berlin and continued developing his artworks, but also opened new doors to new media and ways to relate with people.
As an invisible conceptual thread, he has been talking about impermanence with different mediums and materials.

7 years ago, he found rope bondage as a new technique to continue evolving his practice. He developed his own conscious and quiet approach and characteristic face bondage. Creating safe spaces for people to trust and surrender, he opens the doors for people to explore their bodies in a different way. Exploring emotions and intentions in rope is one of his most interests.

He taught in different queer spaces Tension (Montreal) Temple (New York) and Iridescent Studio (Amsterdam) Anatomie (London)At the moment Marcos offers regular classes and private sessions at his studio KOR Berlin.
