Body Salon by Edward Lloyd

  • Iridescent Studio 1B Doctor Jan van Breemenstraat Amsterdam, NH, 1056 AB Netherlands (map)

BODY Salon is a queer led, four-part workshop series inviting

participants to explore the intersection of physical awareness,

creative expression, and authentic connection through body based

practices.

Each workshop welcomes newcomers and provides a full arc of

experience, while returning participants will gain a progressive

deepening of embodied practice.

Edward Lloyd (He/him)

Performer, facilitator and researcher based in Amsterdam. He is currently working at the intersection of dance, queer community building and activism using vocal and somatic work to re-imagine collective healing practices.
He is interested in how joy can be a strategy of resistance to oppressive power structures and how embodied practices can facilitate collective (un)learning.

Edward has worked as a performer with, among others, Marina Abramović, Kris Verdonck, Ula Sickle, Nacera Belaza and LA(HORDE). His most long-term collaboration has been with Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten (ICKamsterdam) with whom he toured extensively and also worked as a Rehearsal Director.

He holds a BA in Ballet and Contemporary Dance from Rambert School and is currently completing an MA in Performance Practices at ArtEZ University of the Arts.

As an extension of his artistic practice, Edward hosts regular yoga and strength training classes for the queer community in Amsterdam. He are a certified Yoga teacher and Restorative Social Justice practitioner.

Each workshop offers a complete experience on its own, while the four-part series follows an intentional progression for participants seeking a deeper, sustained exploration of embodied practice.

All sessions emphasise consent , personal agency, and the wisdom of individual bodies.
Whether you attend one session or all four, you'll engage in a meaningful exploration of personal expression, awareness, and connection within the setting of a supportive community.

  • Tuning In: Building Body Awareness and Personal Boundaries
    November 15th

This foundational workshop offers a safe container for exploring embodied awareness. Participants will learn to tune into their physical sensations, establish personal boundaries, and develop listening to the body’s intuition.
Through breath work, guided movement and awareness exercises, we will develop practical tools for cultivating presence and exploring personal needs anddesires.

  • Moving Authentically: Exploring Personal Movement and Creative Expression
    December 20th

This workshop invites you to explore your body's creative voice through structured improvisation and movement exploration. No dance experience required, we will work with authentic movement that emerges from your own curiosity and impulses. We will explore tools for developing personal expression while building skills for moving harmoniously with others in a shared space.

  • Supportive Connection: Practicing Vulnerability and Building Trust
    January 10th

This workshop offers structured ways to practice vulnerability and trust both with oneself and others. Through physical support, witnessing, and the ongoing negotiation of boundaries participants will explore recognising trust patterns, communicating clear boundaries and experience supporting and being supported by others. All exercises are optional and modifications are always available.

  • Moving Together: Collaboration and Shared Decision Making
    February 21st

The culminating workshop weaves together embodiment, expression, and trust into a collaborative practice. We will build practical skills for navigating collaboration while maintaining individual expression.
Through collective movement and community building exercises this workshop invites participants to reflect on group dynamics, explore creative negotiation and practice shared decision-making.
